Brighton is a town in Munroe County of the state of New York. It has a population of about 35,588 and it occupies a total area of about 15.6 square miles. It is interesting to note that the Brighton Public School is the only public high school in the town. It is bordered by several other cities such as Rochester, Henrietta, Pittsford and Penfield. It is bordered by the Genesee River on the west. Brighton is separated from the city of Buffalo by a distance of about 60 miles.

It is interesting to note that the town of Brighton is named after the city of the same name in England. Farming was the main industry in Brighton until the 20th century. Education to children is provided by the schools of the Brighton Central School District. Twelve Corners Middle School is another popular school in the town. Brighton is home to the main campus of Munroe Community College and a campus of the University of Rochester. An elected town council governs the town of Brighton. Summers in Brighton are generally hot and winters are cold. The Erie Canal runs through the town.
